Beast of Reincarnation Update 1.0.7 Fixes Camera, Combat, Story and More

Game Freak Is Already Fixing Beast of Reincarnation

Beast of Reincarnation has barely been out for a week, and Game Freak is already making significant changes.

The studio has released update 1.0.7 for its new action RPG on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The patch is also available to players through Xbox Game Pass.

That’s important because the game’s launch wasn’t completely smooth.

Players had raised complaints about several aspects of the experience, including the camera, story pacing, small interface text, performance presentation, combat balance, and various bugs.

Game Freak had already promised that it was listening to player feedback and would release a series of ongoing updates.

Now the first of those updates is here.

And while version 1.0.7 doesn’t completely overhaul the game, it targets a surprisingly broad collection of issues.

The Camera Is Getting a Much-Needed Adjustment

One of the biggest changes in version 1.0.7 involves the player camera.

Game Freak has made adjustments to the camera both during exploration and combat. The developer has also confirmed that additional camera improvements are planned for future updates.

That matters more than it might sound.

Camera problems can quickly become combat problems in a third-person action RPG.

When you’re fighting enemies in tight spaces or trying to understand what’s happening around your character, poor camera positioning can make otherwise manageable encounters feel frustrating.

The update doesn’t claim to completely solve every camera issue.

Instead, this appears to be the first step in an ongoing process.

And that’s probably the right approach.

Game Freak Is Also Changing the Story Pacing

This is one of the more unusual parts of the patch.

Game Freak isn’t simply fixing a technical problem with the story.

It’s changing how often certain conversations can trigger.

Some affinity-building conversations could previously occur multiple times in a single day. Following the update, those conversations are limited to once per day.

The change may sound minor, but it addresses a pacing issue that players had noticed.

Repeated conversations appearing too frequently can interrupt the momentum of an action RPG, particularly when you’re trying to move through a larger story sequence.

Instead of allowing these conversations to stack up, the new system spaces them out.

Game Freak also says further story-pacing adjustments are being considered.

So this isn’t necessarily the final solution.

Text Is Now Easier to Read

Another straightforward but important quality-of-life improvement is the increase to text size throughout the game.

Game Freak says further subtitle text adjustments are also being planned.

This is exactly the kind of issue that can easily be overlooked during development.

Developers can test a game on controlled displays and seating distances, but players experience it on everything from large televisions to smaller monitors.

If dialogue or interface elements are too small, the problem becomes especially noticeable during longer sessions.

Increasing the text size doesn’t transform gameplay, but it removes an unnecessary barrier.

Performance Mode Is Now the Default for Cutscenes

This is probably one of the most noticeable presentation changes.

Previously, the game’s default setting for cinematic sequences could result in cutscenes playing at 24 FPS.

After the update, Performance mode is now the default, meaning cutscenes no longer automatically run at 24 FPS. Players can still manually select the Cinematic option if they prefer it.

That’s an interesting decision because the original 24 FPS presentation was presumably intended to create a more cinematic feel.

But consistency matters.

If the actual game is running at a higher frame rate and then suddenly drops to 24 FPS during a story sequence, the transition can feel jarring.

The new default gives players a smoother presentation while preserving the cinematic option for those who specifically want it.

The Interaction Button Can Finally Be Remapped Independently

Game Freak has also improved controller customization.

Players can now change the binding for the Interact button independently through the settings menu. A dropdown selection is used to prevent button conflicts.

This is a small change, but it can make a difference for players who don’t like the default control layout.

The update also fixes a specific issue involving the interaction button.

Previously, if the button was mapped to the Square/X button, using it during a story event involving Kagura on the Walker could incorrectly trigger the option to rest until morning instead of allowing the player to speak with Kagura.

That kind of bug is exactly the sort of thing that can make a game feel less polished than it should.

Combat Balance Has Been Adjusted

Version 1.0.7 also makes several balance changes.

Game Freak has adjusted boss encounters across all difficulty levels, while regular enemy encounters on Normal difficulty have also received balancing changes.

The update additionally adjusts the parry window when Emma is taking damage.

That suggests the developers aren’t only looking at presentation problems.

They’re also paying attention to how combat actually feels.

For an action RPG built around timing and encounters, that is important.

A poorly balanced boss can make players believe the underlying combat system is bad when the real issue is simply that an encounter isn’t tuned properly.

Likewise, a poorly timed parry window can make defensive mechanics feel inconsistent.

The current patch doesn’t provide a complete redesign of combat, but these adjustments show that Game Freak is actively tuning the system.

Several Technical Bugs Have Been Fixed

There’s also a long list of smaller fixes.

The patch addresses problems involving:

  • Button icon settings not saving correctly
  • Upscaling settings resetting after restarting
  • V-Sync affecting resolution settings
  • Difficulty finding the sixth golem in Subcity 01
  • Emma becoming unable to interact after cancelling a Bloom Art
  • A specific interaction issue during the Kagura story event

Individually, none of these fixes is headline material.

Together, however, they make version 1.0.7 a fairly substantial first post-launch patch.

And that’s particularly relevant for a game that launched only recently.

DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4 Are Coming Later

PC players have another reason to pay attention to future patches.

Game Freak says it plans to add support for DLSS 4/4.5 and AMD FSR 4 in subsequent updates.

Those technologies could improve image quality and performance for compatible hardware.

The important point is that they aren’t part of this first update.

They’re planned for future patches.

That distinction matters because players shouldn’t download version 1.0.7 expecting those technologies to already be available.

Game Freak has also promised additional technical fixes as development continues.

This Is Only the Beginning

Perhaps the most encouraging part of the announcement is that Game Freak isn’t treating 1.0.7 as the final correction.

The developer says multiple additional patches are planned, with further fixes and adjustments based on ongoing player feedback.

That includes:

  • Further camera adjustments
  • More story-pacing improvements
  • Additional text-size changes
  • DLSS 4/4.5 support
  • FSR 4 support
  • Other technical fixes and quality-of-life improvements

The studio has therefore positioned version 1.0.7 as the beginning of a longer post-launch improvement process.

Why the First Patch Matters So Much

There is a bigger reason this update is worth watching.

Beast of Reincarnation is Game Freak stepping outside the world it is best known for.

The studio is obviously associated with Pokémon, but this project is a much darker action RPG with a very different tone, combat system, and world.

That makes the launch particularly important.

If the game had simply launched with problems and then received minimal support, players would have had little reason to expect its rough edges to disappear.

Instead, Game Freak has responded quickly.

That doesn’t mean every problem has been fixed.

It hasn’t.

But the studio is clearly acknowledging that some aspects need work and is committing to continued updates.

The Update Doesn’t Magically Fix Everything

This is where we need to be realistic.

Calling version 1.0.7 a complete rescue patch would be an exaggeration.

The update improves several problems, but Game Freak itself says additional camera, story, text, technical, and upscaling improvements are still coming.

And the game’s reception remains mixed.

The first patch therefore shouldn’t be viewed as proof that all launch criticism has disappeared.

Instead, it’s evidence that Game Freak is responding to that criticism.

Those are two very different things.

The real test will be what happens over the next few months.

If the studio continues addressing the biggest complaints, Beast of Reincarnation could gradually become a much more polished experience.

The first update is a good start, but it doesn’t erase the problems players noticed when the game launched. Should You Play Beast of Reincarnation Now?

If you’ve been waiting for the game to improve before buying it, version 1.0.7 is a positive sign.

But I wouldn’t tell players that they need to rush back immediately.

The first update fixes a meaningful number of issues, but more changes are already planned.

If you’re particularly sensitive to camera problems, performance presentation, or story pacing, waiting for a few additional patches could make sense.

On the other hand, if you’re already playing the game, there’s little reason not to install the update.

You’re getting better camera behavior, larger text, improved combat balance, more flexible controls, smoother default cutscene playback, and numerous bug fixes.

Final Verdict

Beast of Reincarnation isn’t fixed overnight, but Game Freak has made a solid first move.

Update 1.0.7 addresses some of the game’s most visible launch problems, including camera behavior, text size, story pacing, cutscene frame-rate defaults, control customization, combat balance, and several technical bugs.

More importantly, this isn’t being presented as the end of the road.

Game Freak has confirmed that additional patches are coming, including further story and camera adjustments alongside DLSS 4/4.5 and FSR 4 support.

So the real story isn’t that Beast of Reincarnation has suddenly become a perfect action RPG.

It hasn’t.

The story is that Game Freak is listening, and it’s moving quickly enough to start addressing the problems players noticed at launch.

Now the studio has to prove it can maintain that momentum.
